   About Rohtak- the Host City

Rohtak is a district of the Haryana state and falls within National Capital Region (NCR) of India—about 75 Kms from Delhi on the Delhi-Hisar National Highway (NH-10), about 240 Kms from the state capital Chandigarh and 150 Kms from Kurukshetra (a famous ancient place in Haryana). Rohtak is well connected both by rail as well as road. The nearest Airport is at Delhi. The city combines rich past with pulsating present and bright future. It is the education hub of the State with excellent facilities for education in all fields of knowledge and has been developing as a centre for academic excellence in North India. IIM Rohtak and University of Health Sciences are located within a close proximity of the host institution “Maharshi Dayanand University”, Rohtak. Apart from the University itself, there are various places in and around Rohtak that are worth visiting including Tilyar lake, Baba Mastnath Muth, Fun Town (Asauda). The climate of the city in November is pleasant with temperature ranging between 150 C to 250 C.

   About the Host Institution

Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak was established in 1976, named after a great visionary and social reformer, Maharshi Dayanand. It is spread over a sprawling area of over 665 acres and is well laid with state-of-the-art buildings and magnificent road network and presents a spectacle of harmony in architecture and natural beauty. The history of this university is closely linked with educational, cultural, political and economic growth of modern Haryana. It is making fast progress to emerge as a leading educational institution of the nation and is developing as an academic hub for traditional as well as employment-oriented professional courses. Presently, it is a teaching-cum-affiliating university with 38 Post Graduate departments, 11 faculties, one PG Regional Centre at Rewari, one off-line campus centre, Directorate of Distance Education, Institute of Law and Management Studies at Gurgaon and 692 affiliated colleges of general education, engineering, technology, computer sciences and management sciences located in 10 districts of the Haryana State. The Department of Mathematics is one of the oldest departments of the M.D. University, Rohtak and was established in the year 1976. Over the years the department has made rapid strides in academics and at present it has over 500 students distributed over several programs such as M.Sc. Mathematics, M.Sc. Mathematics with Computer Science, 5-Year integrated M.Sc.(Hons) Mathematics, M.Phil., Pre Ph.D course work and Ph.D.


   About Indian Society for History of Mathematics

Indian Society for History of Mathematics (ISHM) was founded by Late Professor Udita Narayana Singh in the year 1978.  The Society aims to promote study, teaching and education in history of mathematical sciences.  It provides a forum for exposition of ideas and experiences by way of organizing periodical national and international meetings/seminars/conferences on the works of ancient, medieval and modern mathematicians.    About the Conference

ICHDMS-2012 is intended to provide a common platform for researchers, scientists, engineers and other interested professionals throughout the world to present their latest findings, ideas, developments and applications covering aspects of the History and Development of Mathematical Sciences including Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research and Computer Science.  In particular, the Conference will deal with various topics that include:

  9. Recent Developments in Mathematical Sciences and Future Prospects

The academic sessions will consist of invited plenary talks and contributed paper presentations.
